The
social
work
program
is
accredited
by the
Council
of
Social
Work
Education
(CSWE).
The
profession
of
social
work is
dedicated
to
helping
individuals,
families,
groups,
neighborhoods
and
communities
to meet
basic
human
needs
within
the
context
of
culture
and
society.
Fundamental
to
social
work
practice
is the
enhancement
of
social
functioning
from the
person
in the
environment
perspective.
Particular
attention
is given
to
populations
at risk,
the
services
that
have
been
developed
to meet
their
needs,
and
societal
change
to
achieve
a more
humane
and just
society.
The
Department
of
Social
Work has
been
continuously
accredited
by CSWE
since
1982.
The
mission
of the
undergraduate
social
work
program
at
Colorado
State
University
– Pueblo
is to
prepare
students
for
beginning
generalist
social
work
practice
across
client
systems.
The
program
is
committed
to
promoting
social
and
economic
justice
through
excellence,
creativity
and
innovation.
A strong
knowledge,
value
and
skill
base is
incorporated
into the
curriculum.
As a
Hispanic
Serving
Institution,
there is
an
emphasis
on
understanding,
appreciating,
and
practicing
with the
Chicano/Chicana
community
and
other
regional
populations
of the
Southwestern
United
