2008-2009 SCHOLARSHIP AND DEPARTMENT ADMISSION AUDITION DATES WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY.  CHECK BACK FREQUENTLY FOR UPDATES.

The Department of Music at Colorado State University - Pueblo is proud to present . . .

. . . the newly established $1.8 million Caroline Cramer-Voss Music Scholarship Fund, providing ample scholarships in music for qualified and talented students. This exceptional gift allows the Department to award generous scholarships, usually for one-quarter, one-half, three-quarter, or full tuition and fees. Scholarships from this fund are limited to students declaring a major or minor in music. (Separate awards are available for non-majors who enroll and participate successfully in University music ensembles.)

In order to receive scholarship awards from this fund, applicants must:

Be applied and accepted to the University

Declare a music major or minor (minors are limited to awards of $400.00 per semester)

Perform a scholarship audition for the music faculty (see below for requirements)

Enroll, be advised by the music faculty, and register as a full-time student at CSU-Pueblo

Complete the FAFSA and Apply for COF

Complete the Institutional Scholarship Application by March 1st.  (click here to go to the Institutional Scholarship Application Page)

Enroll in the 4-year incentive program

In order to maintain the award, the student must:

Maintain a 2.5 overall Grade Point Average

Maintain a 3.0 GPA in music coursework

Make regular and satisfactory progress toward a music degree in the area awarded by audition

Perform as required in ensembles and other departmental duties as assigned

All auditions are from 9a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Capps Capozzolo Center for the Arts on the CSU-Pueblo campus. Call 719-549-2552 to request an audition time, or e-mail your name, instrument, requested audition date, and phone number to music@colostate-pueblo.edu.

Please bring with you two letters of recommendation, a resume, a personal letter of intent, and three copies of you music to give to the judges.

Significant awards are available for all performance areas. Call or e-mail the Department if you have specific questions. In addition, please feel free to contact a faculty member in your performance area (see the Faculty link) to discuss appropriate selections and to ask other questions specific to your area.

Audition Information
All degree programs in the department require that freshman and transfer students must audition for the department prior to admission. If an audition in person is not possible, then a taped performance may be allowed for provisional admission.
The Department of Music is proud to offer generous scholarships to students of Colorado State University-Pueblo. Scholarships may include up to full tuition for music majors, depending on student ability and involvement. These scholarships may be renewed for up to four years (8 semesters), provided the student continues to meet the established criteria of grade point average, satisfactory progress toward the degree, and so forth.
Scholarships recipients will be required to participate in a minimum of two performing ensembles.
Audition time is approximately 15 minutes. Students may select music to be performed. It is suggested that students perform two pieces or movements in varying styles rather than one piece. See below for more specific audition requirements.
Students will be asked to sight-read and to perform scales or rudiments, if applicable.
It is required that applicants submit two letters of recommendation, and a letter of intent, along with their resume.

Audition Performance Requirements

Winds
Two contrasting selections or one movement of a concerto. Selections should be from the standard repertoire and display the student's talent adequately. Students may perform single selections if proficient on more than one instrument. Students may also perform one selection in the jazz idiom if proficient in that style.

Percussion
A minimum of two contrasting selections on two different instruments. Selections should display the student's talent adequately.

Strings
