Ensembles are determined by the student’s declared performance area. The following is a guide regarding Secondary Ensembles:

TYPE

SECONDARY ENSEMBLE

Brass Wind Ensemble Brass Ensemble
Percussion Wind Ensemble Percussion Ensemble
Strings String Orchestra Chamber Ensemble
Voice Concert Choir Vocal Ensemble
Piano Piano Ensemble Choir or Jazz Ensemble
Guitar Guitar Ensemble Choir or Jazz Ensemble

Addendum:  The Music Faculty has determined that Jazz Ensemble may be used as a Secondary Ensemble.

Any student on scholarship may be asked to perform in additional ensembles, as specified by the scholarship award letter.

NOTE: Failure by any student to enroll/participate in the appropriate and required primary and secondary ensembles will result in revocation of scholarship and/or delay of graduation.

Auditions are required for the ensembles listed below. Please check the bulletin boards in the Music Building during registration or see the conductor for audition information. For many ensembles, students may register on registration day but delay an audition for several days if necessary. In all ensembles, members enroll for 1.0 credit hour. Grades for ensemble participation are averaged into the overall Grade Point Average (GPA). Tuxedos for men or black formal wear for women is used by all university ensembles. See the ensemble director for more specific information.
