Associate Professor Patricia Bowie "Trish" Orman joined the Mass Communications staff in 1971 first as a departmental assistant and later as information specialist overseeing the USC TODAY, an advisory position which she held for 25 years. 

A Maine native, she completed a bachelor of arts degree in English and Sociology at the University of New Hampshire, a master's degree in Communications at the University of Northern Colorado and her doctorate degree at Univerity of Colorado, Denver. Professor Orman has worked as a free-lance writer for several publications in Southern Colorado and Maine, but her teaching specialties are advertising and popular culture. She has presented papers at numerous conferences and workshops on topics ranging from subliminal advertising to early women copywriters to sexual harrassment on campus.
