The Department of Art offers Weekend Workshops by guest artists in a variety of emphasis areas. These one credit-hour courses are usually offered twice a semester. The workshop begins with a Friday evening lecture by the guest artist followed by an intense two-day, hands-on creative session. The workshops are a great way for art students to learn additional techniques in art and experience art from a variety of instructors. The weekend workshops offer students additional avenues of earning upper-division credits. Please enjoy scenes from some of our visiting artists.
One of the spring, 2011, workshops was presented by David Robbins. David’s workshop was “Video-Making”. David is an internationally known artist and writer. After working for Andy Warhol, Diana Vreeland and George Plimpton, he pioneered an approach to art that embraces both entertainment and the practice of what Robbins calls “alternatives to art.” His pieces, such as “Ice Cream Social” (1993-2008) – Google that, have been noted by curator Hans Obrist.
